On the sixth day of Christmas I want you to meet… vegan baby moccasins by Blueberries For Call!

These cutsie little moccasins are perfect for baby’s growing feet – did you know that soft-soled shoes are a healthy way for baby’s arches to develop? Ramie, owner of Blueberries For Call, designs her moccasins using a vegan-friendly leather alternative and honestly, how cute are these tiny things?  Her color combinations and styles are so perfect for these cold winter months!

An interview with Ramie, owner of Blueberries For Call
(Boise, Idaho, USA)

► Blueberries For Call – how did you come up with this brand name and what does it symbolize?

Blueberries For Call is a name I came up with based on my favorite childhood book: Blueberries For Sal by Robert McCloskey. When I was pregnant we began calling my son “Blueberry” as a nickname, so I decided my shop name should have a connection to my son since he was my inspiration for getting started with Blueberries For Call.

► Think back to when you first began dreaming up Blueberries For Call; what one piece of advice would you send back in a time capsule to yourself?

I would encourage myself to not hold back and start my shop sooner! I have had so much fun connecting with my customers and meeting so many other talented artists, its been a wonderful adventure to begin designing children’s clothing and shoes!

► What keeps you inspired? Do you have any techniques for getting out of a rut?

I love to browse fabric stores with my son, he’s such a great sport and at the young stage where he just loves touching all the different materials and smiling at other people. It’s treasure hunting for us and such a thrill when I find the perfect new fabric to use! Also, I always keep a note pad handy for ideas that pop in my head throughout the day!

► Name a most used or favorite tool for creating your product:

I recently traded in my old vintage sewing machine for a Husqvarna Emerald 116 sewing machine and I love it!

► What activities keep you busy in your free time?

I love spending my free time with my 11 month son, Aiden. He is such a curious little guy and I love to watch him learn about the world everyday! Also, my husband has recently convinced me to train for a Spartan race so I’ve started training, its a great challenge to work towards!

► List three adjectives that describe the style of your shop:

adventurous – unique – imaginative

► What eco-initiatives have you established within your business?

I offer a variety of vegan leather or leather alternative moccasins that are durable, wonderfully soft, and comfortable for little feet!

► What’s next for Blueberries For Call?

I am currently selling my product in San Francisco, Boise, and Canada. I’m looking forward to continuing to expand my business and create new exciting pieces for every season!

► What’s your favorite color combination right now?

I’m a bit obsessed with ivory and gold combinations while I’ve been redecorating our living room for Winter. The perfect mix of cozy and glam!
