etsy teams, preparing for the holidays, a Halloween party, and my Sherlock crush

Last week I had the flu and was incapacitated on the couch which means I did lots of complaining, caught up on some of my favorite shows, and focused on the little things from my to do list – since concentrating long enough to complete a big project was simply not an option. I’m having nonstop sinus problems and constant severe headaches now but I can at least form lucid thoughts so I’m taking this opportunity to bring you up to date on the small accomplishments I’ve made during my sick-leave.

Iowa City Creatives - Etsy Team

ΔΔ Do you have an Etsy shop and live in the Iowa City, Coralville, or North Liberty area?? Etsy Teams are groups where Etsy shop owners network and collaborate. There are hundreds of different teams and each team focuses on different topics, so I generally look for teams that are specific to my local area. The Iowa City area doesn’t have it’s own Etsy Team yet though so I’ve created one – the Iowa City Creatives Etsy Team is specifically for the Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty area. If you live in the area and have an Etsy shop, I hope you’ll join the team so we can network and increase each-other’s  local, small biz word of mouth! (Join the team HERE). ΔΔ

building a small biz

ΔΔ I’m viciously trying to check things off the to-do list before the holiday shopping season fully begins. With Halloween as my deadline, I’m beginning to go into panic mode… but some of my best work happens under pressure so perhaps this is a good thing. A few holiday-specific items will be added to the shop in November along with some fun gift-wrap options! I can hardly wait for these updates and for everything holiday-related (hello peppermint mochas!) from comfort food to… snow. Is anyone else feeling this way? ΔΔ

ΔΔ But before I can shop for the Christmas tree, we’re hosting a Halloween party this year! Since I have the scare-level of a six year old, we used these invites. The outside of our house is completely decked out to match the card (yeah, we’re those neighbors). I overheard a family walking by our house the other night and the little boy was yelling, “and when we walk by that house the monsters will jump out?” and “mom, we should do that to our house!” The conversation was adorable which was really rewarding to listen to and made me totally okay with being the creepy weirdo neighbor (PS this invite was a free download found HERE). show addiction: Sherlock

ΔΔ This show. Oh my goodness, it is the best! You can watch all the episodes on Netflix, which I mostly did while sick last week. If not for feeling like my organs were broken and my joints swollen, I’d probably be able to say that it was the best week ever. Seriously though, if you haven’t watched Sherlock yet, you should. There are three seasons as of now and I read that they’ll begin recording season four in January 2015 with air dates starting December 2015 and January 2016. Why does it have to be so far away?! ΔΔ

What’s on your to-do list this week? What shows are you currently obsessed with? Are you ready for the holiday season to begin?
